Over the last few weeks, I’ve been making some changes to my business. Nothing too dramatic really, rather just a few strategic tweaks that I hope will help me move toward something I’ve wanted for a long time…
Consistent daily sales, not just the big spikes during launch weeks.
Don’t get me wrong, I love doing launches and they remain a huge (and fundamental) part of my business. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of putting something out into the world that you know can genuinely help people, and then of course watching the sales notifications come in when everything goes live.
But outside of those launch windows things were often much quieter for me. Actually, they were WAY too quiet. It almost felt like I had two separate businesses – one that existed during a launch and one that barely made a sound in between.
So I decided to fix that.
Splitting my list into two
The first change was splitting my email list into two segments. One for PLR subscribers and one for my general IM audience. My intention wasn’t to complicate things. My thinking was that this would allow me to mail more often while (hopefully) not pissing people off too much and making my promotions more targeted. When you know exactly who you’re talking to, it becomes easier to show up and serve them with more confidence.
Creating promo campaigns
Up until this point, most of my affiliate promotions have been on a whim. I’d see a product that I thought would be useful to my audience and I’d tell them about it.
And while I still only want to promote high-quality products that are genuinely valuable, I’m now planning my campaigns further in advance and putting together unique bonuses that add further value. The feedback I’ve had on these bonuses has been amazing so far and it’s something I’m going to be doing a lot more of.
Launching this blog and getting people talking
Next, I finally launched my blog right here at DanFlower.com. This was something that I’d been meaning to do for ages but somehow never quite got around to. I kept hearing people say that blogging is “dead” and that it takes months to gain any real traction. Maybe that’s true in terms of SEO, but what I’ve found is that publishing personal, story-driven posts creates a kind of connection that email alone can’t do. I’ve already had a bunch of comments and messages from people who resonated with what I shared (thank you!). That feels amazing and it’s very much appreciated.
Early days, but the results are encouraging
It’s still early in the experiment, but the results so far have surprised me. Since the last launch wrapped up a month or so ago, I’ve made 59 sales in total.
On the affiliate side, I’ve made 19 sales of the last few products I’ve promoted:

and I’ve even appeared on a few leaderboards alongside some big names:

Certainly massages the old ego a little, LOL.
By the way, I know this is pretty small fry. But for me it represents a real step in the right direction. I’m seeing sales come in steadily outside of a launch, and I know it’s something that can grow every month if I keep up the consistency.
A piece of advice that stuck with me
There’s one thing Tony Shepherd said to me months ago that has been sitting in the back of my mind the whole time. He said not to judge results on single promos but to zoom out and look at everything over the course of a monthly cycle.
It’s month one of doing that and I’m encouraged by what I’m seeing.
Sharing the journey
I’m sharing all this because sometimes the smallest shifts make the biggest difference. If you’re stuck in the cycle of big launches followed by long silences in between, maybe there’s a tweak you can make to change that. Even small changes can totally alter your results and even just how your business feels day to day.
It’s early days but it finally feels like I’m on the path to consistency. And consistency really is the key to success in this game.

Love your blog Dan. It’s great to hear about your process and small tweaks that work. Here’s wishing you more successes! Ps. You’ve inspired me to blog next year. I tell clients all the time how important it is and seen, first hand, the amazing results it’s brings. Great work! 👌
Hi Lee,
Thanks for your very kind comment. I’m a big fan of blogs and they definitely help you to put your message out there. I haven’t done much SEO but it’s a great place to brain dump and share your thoughts in your own little corner of the internet.
Awesome to hear I’ve inspired you to blog. I’m looking forward to reading yours!
Dan
Dan, this is exactly the kind of honest post that helps people like me who are still figuring things out. The idea of splitting your list and creating unique bonuses for affiliate promos is smart and something I hadn’t really considered before. Your point about judging results over a monthly cycle instead of single promotions really makes sense. I’m glad you started this blog because these personal insights are way more valuable than just sales tactics. Keep sharing the journey, it’s helping more people than you probably realise!
Hi Atif,
I love sharing my personal insights because I know how much value I get when other people do the same. Great to hear that you find them useful.
I’d really encourage you to look at creating bonuses. If you can make them good and highly valuable, the benefits are twofold – it encourages people to buy from you in the first place, and then it makes them remember you because you provided something unique.
Thanks for commenting.
Dan
Hi Dan,
Definitely the small tweaks that, over time, creates the wave we’re looking for!
Good for you for taking the time to reflect on what works and how to tweak it. Running an online business isn’t easy and, to my knowledge, doesn’t have a “how to” book to make it work so we go with people who can help us, a community that can also support us and sharing our ups and downs. Thanks for doing just that!
